Most of Kenna's work is created on watercolor paper. After thoroughly wetting the paper, colors are placed randomly allowing the colors to move through the waters. Different patterns emerge through the process, which are encouraged through moving and manipulating the paper.
To avoid too much control, the process is done quickly, and occasionally in limited lighting (outside in the dark) to later reveal designs that might not have been allowed otherwise. This provides a greater challenge in continuing the piece both in adding subject matter and color placement.
Later when the piece is dry (or almost dry) additional layers of color can be added. Because of Kenna's love of textiles and textures, this is a favorite time to explore patterns and special effects using found objects, discarded materials, favored techniques, simple play.
