After the subject matter has been transferred to the previous under painting, watermedia is used to resolve the layers together. Beginning in the background, most often, the underpainting determines colors to be used. It is during this time that different layers may fall to the back or brought forward for emphasis.
As the work moves forward, colors are less of a choice and may be dictated more by the multiple layers in place rather than any preconceived idea that Kenna usually dreams of.
Occasionally, additional layers may be added as desired based on the painting and balance. All the different layers are time consuming as a whole, but individually not. This allows for more than one work in progress. Once a piece is abandoned (she has trouble letting it be “finished”) then the work is sealed and becomes available.
